Sarto receives WMAA Clinical Sciences Emeritus Faculty Award

Congratulations to Professor Emeritus Gloria Sarto, MD PhD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of Reproductive and Population Health! Sarto was selected (unanimously!) by the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association’s Board of Directors and Awards Committee to receive the 2018 Clinical Sciences Emeritus Faculty Award. The WMAA will present the award at a ceremony in April 2018.

The Clinical Sciences Emeritus Faculty Award is given to a “clinical scientist who demonstrates long and effective service to the UW School of Medicine and Public Health in teaching and/or research or noteworthy administration, including program development.”

Sarto has devoted her career to making sure medical education includes women by conducting research that gives equal attention to female biology, and advancing research in health equity. She was the first female Director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and first woman to be President of the American Gynecologic and Obstetric Society, and the first person to perform amniocentesis in Wisconsin.

Congratulations, Dr. Sarto, on this latest and well-deserved achievement!
