Dr. Gloria Sarto is a trail blazer in women’s health whose focus has intuitively been on health equity. Dr. Sarto has dedicated her long and esteemed professional career not only on helping ensure all women have access to the health care they need and deserve, but as importantly, that medical research equally include women. Thanks in large part to the work of Dr. Sarto the federal government in 1990 mandated that medical research include female subjects equal to male. 1990 is not that long ago.

This $1.5 million endowed chair will allow us to recruit and retain the top physician or researcher whose work is focused on advancing women’s health through health equity research. We are a leader in this area because Dr. Sarto has called the University of Wisconsin-Madison her academic home for most of her life.
