Congratulations to David Abbott, PhD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of Reproductive Sciences! Abbott received an R21 grant from the NIH Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development for the project “Whole exome analyses in naturally occurring hyperandrogenic female monkeys.

The grant will allow Abbott’s lab to fully genotype each naturally hyperandrogenic adult female rhesus monkey in the pedigrees of previously identified naturally hyperandrogenic females, and associate PCOS risk genes with their individual PCOS-like traits. This is the first such study outside humans.

Incredible work, Dr. Abbott!
