Theresa Duello, PhD authored a study in the Journal of Perinatology with colleagues from the UW SMPH Department of Pediatrics.
“Antenatal and intrapartum risk factors for neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy” was a retrospective analysis of singleton births to help identify risk factors for hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). The study used birth data from 2009-2016 – maternal, antenatal, intrapartum and neonatal variables were collected from Peri-Data.Net®.
“In this large, single center cohort study, when adjusting for other variables, we found six antenatal risk factors and four intrapartum risk factors for HIE. The presence of an antenatal risk factor was relatively common in both groups; however, the presence of an intrapartum risk factor showed a large difference between the groups.”
