Cesarean deliveries, or C-sections, are among the most common surgical procedures performed in the United States. In a two-part series on the Women's Healthcast, Ryan McDonald, MD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn walks us through C-sections, from understanding factors that may increase your chances of C-section, to what happens during the procedure, through recovery and how C-section may affect future pregnancies.

In part one, Preparing for Cesarean Delivery, Dr. McDonald walks through what happens during a cesarean delivery, potential risks or complications, and how he helps patients prepare for the possibility they might need a C-section.

Part two, You Had a C-Section. What’s Next?, covers recovery, breastfeeding, birth control and more after cesarean delivery.
