Rice makes case for increasing research funding for academic ob-gyn departments in AJOG
UW Department of Ob-Gyn Chair Laurel Rice, MD published a call to action in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology making the case for more research funding for academic ob-gyn departments across the country.
In “Increasing NIH Funding for Academic Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology: A Call to Action,” Rice and co-authors point out that NIH funding for reproductive sciences research is disproportionately low:
“Research is one of the most important pillars in advancing health care. Underfunding for research in departments of OBGYN, despite Congress’ vision in providing increased funding to the NIH as a whole, is one of several critical drivers in the decline in reproductive health and health care for US women.”
