Ryan Spencer, MD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of Gynecologic Oncology (and associate residency program director) was in New Orleans last week for the 2019 CREOG and APGO Annual Meeting. While there, he presented “Developing a Sustainable Rural Training Program: Where to Start and How to Succeed” during a breakfast session.

The UW Ob-Gyn Rural Residency training track is still the only one of its kind in the country, and we have a lot of wisdom to share after launching the program and recruiting our first two rural residents. Thanks to Dr. Spencer for making all our important lessons learned available to other training programs – one important step to improving the shortage of rural women’s health providers across the country!
