The American Family Children’s Hospital Congenital Heart Surgery Program has just received a three star rating (out of a maximum of three stars) from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the benchmarking group that scores programs based on risk-adjusted outcomes.
Only 10 pediatric heart programs in the U.S. have this distinction. The UW Ob-Gyn Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine is a critical part of the multidisciplinary team of inpatient, outpatient, surgical, critical care, interventional, neonatal, and transport specialists who contribute to this high score. (For an excellent example of the Division of MFM’s cross-specialty contributions, take a look at the story from earlier this year about the fetal heart imaging project they’re part of).
Congratulations to all involved for the hard work and incredible clinical care it took to achieve this rating!
