On March 12, 2019, UW Ob-Gyn residents Emily Buttigieg, MD, PGY-2, and Matthew Wagar, MD, PGY-1 visited members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation to advocate for improved maternal healthcare and to ask Congress to protect healthcare access for people in Wisconsin and beyond.

As part of attending the ACOG Congressional Leadership Conference, Buttigieg and Wagar attended training sessions to help them prepare for congressional visits. When it came time for Hill visits, the full UW Ob-Gyn advocacy delegation included Doug Laube, MD, and Kathryn Sarnoski, MD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn.
