Congratulations to UW Ob-Gyn resident Matthew Wagar, MD, PGY-1! Wagar wrote a Perspectives essay published in the May volume of the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In Wagar’s essay “Findings on Ultrasound,” he details a delivery for a patient who had been under antenatal surveillance for most of her pregnancy after ultrasounds found a mass on the placenta. He beautifully captures the anxiety of a nebulous diagnosis, how easy it can be to fixate on uncertainty, and the ultimate peace and perspective when the unknown becomes visible.
It’s a beautiful essay – read the whole piece here. Excellent work, Dr. Wagar!
