VCAT
Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT) - Abortion values clarification workshop
PI: Laura Jacques
Graduate Student Lead: Elise Cowley
The current project aims to increase patient access to
abortion by implementing an evidence-based intervention designed to reduce
provider stigma around abortion. One such intervention is the
Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT) Workshop. VCAT workshops are interactive sessions aimed at helping participants understand and contextualize the reasons for and situations in which people seek
abortion care and explore and challenge their own and other’s beliefs
about this care. These workshops have been implemented successfully with healthcare workers
internationally, but few studies have evaluated
the impact of VCAT workshops on U.S. physician residents and
none have evaluated the impact in medical students.
