We are pleased that you are interested in the University of Wisconsin's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We offer a broad spectrum of clinical programs. Our department integrates an academic medical center, two community hospitals and more than 30 community-based practitioners.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology remains responsive to health care reform and health care needs of the American public.  An active research program complements our clinical program.

Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship announced at UW

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) has recently been approved for a Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc. Currently, there are less than 40 institutions in the United States training future gynecologic oncologists. [Read More]


 
Laurel Rice, M.D.

New Department Chair

Laurel Rice, M.D., has accepted our offer to become chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Rice’s appointment will begin on October 1.

Professor Rice has been vice chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center since 2001. [Read More]

Jewel Of An Evening Sheds Light on Gynecologic Cancers

"Is it me, or is it really hot in here?" asked Diane Stewart, standing at a podium at the Monona Terrace, recounting her year-long struggle with advanced ovarian cancer.

Suddenly, Stewart shed the colorful wrap around her shoulders, then turned around and began unbuttoning her blouse. Just as bemused rumblings began spreading through the crowd, Stewart turned back around to reveal a gray t-shirt with the words "Cancer Sucks" emblazoned across the chest. [Read More]
