Healthy Women Community Talks

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is pleased to present Healthy Women Community Talks. This free community education series is dedicated to helping all women stay healthy throughout their lives. Healthy Women Community Talks provide an opportunity for the public to hear from clinicians, scientists, and other women’s health experts about the latest research, trends, and treatment options. Questions and discussion are highly encouraged. Talks are held in various accessible, public locations in the Madison area. Most can be attended in-person or via webinar. 


Hereditary Ovarian Cancer Syndromes -- Tuesday, September 10, 2019: 6-7:30pm

Featuring UW Carbone Cancer Center gynecologic oncologist Lisa Barroilhet, MD
Location: UW Health Arboretum Clinic, 1102 S. Park Street, Madison, WI

The focus of this talk is to learn about genetic risk for ovarian cancers and how to prevent ovarian cancer once a patient is identified to be at risk.

BRCA and Lynch syndromes will be two of the hereditary syndromes reviewed, among others. We will also discuss genetic testing using home kits, screening for ovarian cancer, and the role of precision medicine in patients with a defined genetic abnormality.
