Undergraduate Research

Thank you for your interest in the UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s research projects! Undergraduate research training is an important part of our mission to foster passion for obstetric and gynecological research and to prepare the next generation of scientists and physicians to engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

Dedicated undergraduate researchers in the Department of Ob-Gyn have won national and local awards, presented research findings in a variety of venues including national, regional, and local meetings, and have published in peer reviewed journals. Faculty trainers in the Department of Ob-Gyn are dedicated to creating an inclusive and rigorous research environment for undergraduate students in clinical, translational, and basic science research.

Research Opportunities and Openings

Several of our faculty co/coordinate internship programs for undergraduate researchers or post open opportunities on their research websites. You are welcome to browse these programs for available positions, eligibility information, and application processes and deadlines.

Students can indicate interest in research experiences under the supervision of Department of Ob-Gyn researchers by contacting Grace Jensen (gjensen2@wisc.edu) for more information. She provides questions that allow us to create a student profile for you, and make it easier for us to communicate your interests, goals and availability with our faculty and research staff. They recruit from these profiles when a new research opportunity becomes available.

Those who have identified a faculty member they wish to work with are recommended to carbon copy Grace on initial correspondence with that faculty member in order to help expedite the process or to assist in finding another suitable project in the event there are no openings.
