Anderson-Carter receives CA2RE grant from ACOG

India Anderson-Carter, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn, and Julia Reeves, MPH, Outreach Program Manager in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn, received a grant from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) for a project in collaboration with the Wisconsin Maternal Mortality Review Team and the Department of Health Services. The grant was awarded as part of ACOG’s Collective Action Advancing Respect and Equity (CA2RE) program. Katie Sampene, MD, clinical professor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn and member of the ACOG CA2RE delegation, supported the grant application as well.

This collaboration aims to curate an inclusive event, the Pregnancy Trust and Safety Summit, where healthcare providers can learn from community experts, clinicians, and scholars to advance equitable, person-centered obstetric care from pregnancy through postpartum. Topics will center on maternal health equity and leading causes of maternal mortality, including substance use, mental health, and systemic bias.

The goals of the Pregnancy Trust and Safety Summit are to amplify community, research, and medical expertise to support provider education and inform meaningful improvements in obstetric practice for communities disproportionately impacted by maternal mortality and morbidity, in Wisconsin and across ACOG District VI.

Congratulations to our faculty, and more information to come!
