Bailey discusses patient's placenta accreta experience with local media

Erin Bailey, MD, MS, assistant professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, spoke with a variety of local media platforms for recent stories about the life-saving treatment provided to a patient with placenta accreta.

In “UW Health team successfully saves woman from life-threatening pregnancy condition,” for Channel 3000, Bailey discussed the risk factors associated with placenta accreta, saying, “there has been a big movement within the world of OBGYN to really be thoughtful about when C sections are performed, and really trying to find that balance of minimizing any sort of risk to the pregnant patient while ensuring that we don't put the baby at any risk either.”

For WIFR, in “’We’re lucky’ Wisconsin mom grateful for care after rare complication during pregnancy,” Bailey and her UW Health team were credited for their care and expertise in Taryn Apodaca’s complications with placenta accreta.

In “Woman tells her story after receiving life saving treatment from UW Health, Meriter during her pregnancy,” Bailey told WKOW that, “in Taryn’s case, we realized we would need to put her under and remove her uterus. We did the surgery to make sure she was going to be there for all of her kids.”
