Beninati discusses high-risk twin delivery with WMTV-15
Michael Beninati, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and co-director of the UW Health Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center, spoke with WMTV-15 as part of a patient’s story about a recent high-risk twin delivery.
In "High risk twins delivered safely in Madison after rare pregnancy complication", a patient shared her experience with a rare monochorionic, monoamniotic (momo) twin pregnancy. Beninati discussed the challenges of safely delivering momo pregnancies:
“We have to make sure that, when you get one baby out, that you are quick to get the second baby out and don’t let their cords kind of tether or tension on the other, which can limit blood supply to the one who is still on the inside.”

Anna, the patient who worked with Dr. Beninati to safely deliver her twins, shared patient feedback with UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital:
"Thank you for everything you did for our momo twins. You gave me the strength and courage to get through my pregnancy and kept me so informed. You always made me feel just as equal in the room when making decisions. I truly believe that if I didn't have you as my doctor that my daughters wouldn't be here. You saved their lives on many occasions and I can't thank you enough!"
