Bhagavath talks about IVF legislation with Cap Times
Bala Bhagavath, MD, professor and director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, was recently featured in an article by The Cap Times discussing a potential bill that would require insurance plans to cover fertility treatments, including IVF.
In “IVF cost $15k for her first pregnancy. A new bill could make it free.”, Bhagavath described his experience practicing medicine in three other states before moving to Wisconsin and how IVF is not broadly accessible due to the high cost:
“‘Absolutely without doubt, most of our patients are at least middle class to well-to-do patients,’ he said. ‘Because how many people can just come up with $30,000, right?’”
