Casey’Grant, Greene appointed to WAPC Risk-Based Care/Levels of Care Group

UW Ob-Gyn Outreach Specialist Cheryl Casey’Grant and Madelyne Greene, PhD, RN, assistant professor in the UW-Madison School of Nursing and faculty affiliate in the Department of Ob-Gyn, were appointed to the Wisconsin Association for Perinatal Care’s Risk-Based Care/Levels of Care work group!

The Risk-Based Care Work Group is responsible for creating and implementing statewide projects and policies related to regional collaboration in support of high-quality perinatal care, including maternal and neonatal level of care designation. The group will develop and support optimal prenatal outcomes by promoting evidence-based practices and guidelines for perinatal care, including coordinated systems of care and maternal or neonatal transport, effective risk identification, and care in risk appropriate settings. Specific upcoming work will include:

  • Improving Wisconsin’s levels of care designation process
  • Supporting hospitals to complete the levels of care designation process
  • Adding Wisconsin data to national data through the implementation of the CDC’s Levels of Care
  • Assessment Tool (LOCATe)
  • Providing support to hospitals based on their level designation in the form of educational opportunities, collaboration tools, and other resources
