Cutler published article in Obstetrics and Gynecology Open

Abigail Cutler, MD, MPH, assistant professor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, co-authored a new article published in Obstetrics and Gynecology Open. Co-authors include Emily Claymore, Jema Turk, and Jody Steinauer.
In “Residents Navigating Moral Distress After the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Decision,” Cutler and co-authors interviewed 21 obstetrics and gynecology residents working in states with restrictions on abortion, in an effort to learn how they mitigated moral distress in their training.
“Overwhelmingly, residents expressed appreciation for proactive efforts of faculty and institutions to help mitigate moral distress and noted when such efforts were absent or fell short of expectation. They desired unambiguous statements of opposition to abortion restrictions from their institutions, transparent communication from institutional leadership, and tangible resources to help them navigate a post-Dobbs landscape.”
