Cutler publishes in JAMA Open Network

Abigail Cutler, MD, MPH, assistant professor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, co-authored a new article in JAMA Open Network. Co-authors include Corinne Hale and Eliza Bennett, MD, Laura Jacques, MD, and Jenny Higgins, PhD, MPH.
In “Experiences of Obstetrician-Gynecologists Providing Pregnancy Care After Dobbs,” Cutler and co-authors analyzed how the 2022 Dobbs decision affected the ability of ob-gyns in Wisconsin to provide adequate health care to patients with pregnancy risks or complications.
“In this qualitative study of OB-GYNs practicing in an abortion-restrictive state, threat of criminalization in post-Dobbs Wisconsin resulted in uncertainty and confusion for OB-GYNs and worse care for pregnant patients … these experiences, which contribute to a critical evidence base on the harms of abortion restrictions, are relevant to states facing similar bans that criminalize or restrict health care.”
