On May 21, 2026, the UW Department of Ob-Gyn gathered in the Health Sciences Learning Center for a busy and bustling Department Research Day. UW School of Medicine and Public Health Dean Nita Ahuja, MD, MBA, opened the event with remarks about on the importance of pausing to focus on research and collaboration, followed by a keynote presentation about hypertension in pregnancy from Alan Tita, MD, PhD. Dr. Tita joined us from the University of Alabama Birmingham, where he is the Mary Heersink Chair of Global Health and professor of obstetrics and gynecology.

Graduating fellows in the Divisions of Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery presented their fellow research projects. Faculty and researchers from the Divisions of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn, Reproductive and Population Health, and Reproductive Sciences also shared updates about their work.

This year’s Department Research Day also included the largest poster session in this event’s history, sharing 48 posters of fascinating projects happening around the department.
