Giles to become Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery interim fellowship program director
Dobie Giles, MD, MS, MBA, professor in the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS), will become the interim URPS fellowship program director, effective June 1, 2026. Giles will take over the program director position from Jon Pennycuff, MD, MSPH.
Giles has held several leadership roles in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn since joining the faculty in 2013, including serving as URPS (formerly FPMRS) division director from 2014-2022 and Department of Ob-Gyn Vice Chair of Finance from 2017-2023.
In recent years, Giles has refocused his efforts on clinical education and scholarship. He became the director of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health Phase 1 Preceptor Program in 2025, supporting Phase 1 students and preceptors, providing education and orientation to preceptors, reviewing student and preceptor feedback for continuous quality improvement, and more. He has nearly 20 years of experience as an excellent clinical educator, teaching clinical and surgical skills to medical students, residents, fellows, and peers through lectures, in-depth courses, and hands-on workshops.
Giles’ extensive educational and leadership skills will be an incredible asset as he supports the current and incoming URPS fellows throughout their training experience. Please help us congratulate Dr. Giles on this exciting new role and thank Dr. Pennycuff for his stewardship of the URPS fellowship over the past year!
