Grand Rounds: Hammond presents “Cardio-Obstetrics: An Overview (From a Cardiologist’s Perspective)”

On December 14, 2023, Allexa Hammond, MD, assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Medicine, presented the Grand Rounds lecture “Cardio-Obstetrics: An Overview (From a Cardiologist's Perspective).”

In the lecture, Hammonds discussed the main contributors to the establishment and growth of the cardio-obstetrics field and described the patient and provider make-up of the field. She also illustrated how a cardio-obstetrics program can promote advocacy for specific populations that are susceptible to maternal morbidity and mortality. Hammonds ended her presentation with solutions that can help at-risk patients during the pre-conception, pregnancy, and postpartum phases of care.
