Hoppe co-authors study on hypertension and delivery in Green Journal
Kara Hoppe, DO, MS, associate professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn recently co-authored a new study published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. Co-authors include co-investigators on the Chronic Hypertension and Pregnancy (CHAP) trial.
In “Optimal Timing of Delivery for Pregnant Individuals With Mild Chronic Hypertension,” Hoppe and co-authors investigated connections between gestational age and delivery times for pregnant people with chronic hypertension, to see if any change in gestational age improved perinatal outcomes.
“Planned delivery in the early-term period compared with expectant management was not associated with a reduction in adverse maternal outcomes. However, it was associated with increased odds of some neonatal complications.”
