Hoppe receives grant to connect Meriter and UW SMPH maternal-child health data
Kara Hoppe, DO, PhD, professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Vice Chair for Clinical Research, received a grant from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Office of Social Health Sciences and Programs to support the project Data Link for Healthy Families! Hoppe will be the principal investigator for the project, working in collaboration with co-investigator Jomol Mathew, PhD, Associate Dean for Informatics and Information Technology.
Data Link for Healthy Families will work to establish a robust, seamless, compliant maternal-child health data linkage between UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. The work undertaken in this project will support advanced analytical capabilities and facilitate rigorous investigations into the long-term (across the lifespan) effects of adverse outcomes on maternal health and the developmental trajectories of children.
The $459,000 grant, funded by UW SMPH Healthy Wisconsin Families American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State & Local Recovery Funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, runs from December 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026.
Incredible work, Dr. Hoppe!
