Huffman receives 2025 UW Health Physician Excellence Rising Star Clinical Educational Award

The UW Department of Ob-Gyn congratulates Laura Huffman, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, for receiving the 2025 UW Health Physician Excellence Rising Star Clinical Educator Award!
This award recognizes an outstanding educator working with residents, medical students, as well as other interdisciplinary team members, patients and families. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional and measurable contributions to clinical practice and education at UW Health.
Huffman joined the UW Department Ob-Gyn for gynecologic oncology fellowship in 2014, and returned to the department as an assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in 2022.
“Dr. Huffman created a standard laparoscopic curriculum that she herself oversees, instructs our students on week to week and provides them with evaluations and formative feedback. This has allowed for our division to provide equitable feedback and perspective on a student’s ability to acquire new procedural skills – an ability that is paramount to developing the next generation of OBGYNs. This change in our curriculum has been so well received that Dr. Huffman has been invited to present this novel approach to procedural learning at the national Association for Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Faculty Development Seminar this month, placing UW and our department in national spotlight,” Matt Wagar, MD, said in his letter of recommendation for Huffman.
Dr. Huffman will be celebrated at the 2025 UW Health Physician Excellence Awards Ceremony on May 21, 2025. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
