Kim receives WPP Postdoctoral Grant Award

The Wisconsin Partnership Program recently announced 17 recipients of Postdoctoral Grant Program Awards. Two researchers in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn received awards, which provide career development grants to enhance and expand postdoctoral research, education and professional development at SMPH. Grants are up to $20,000 each over one year.

Taehyun Kim, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Reproductive and Population Health and the UW Collaborative for Reproductive Equity, received a grant for the project Examining Health Policy Effects on Maternal Health Outcomes in Wisconsin and Nationally. Kim is mentored by Division of Reproductive and Population Health Director Jenny Higgins, PhD,  MPH.

Kim’s project examines how recent changes in reproductive health policy affect maternal health outcomes in Wisconsin and across the United States. Using a large national electronic medical records dataset, the study will compare trends across states with differing policy environments to generate new evidence on how these changes influence maternal health risks, care experiences and pregnancy-related outcomes.

Incredible work, Dr. Kim!
