Liss talks about diaper needs at UW Health with WMTV-15 News

Cassandra Liss, CNM, midwives supervisor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, spoke with WMTV-15 News for a recent story about how health care systems like UW Health are working to help patients meet their diaper needs.

In “UW Health, SSM Health staff identify diaper need in postpartum patients,” Liss talked about how a new UW Health survey seeks to approach diaper needs in a more conversational rather than clinical way. UW Health then uses this information to figure out how many diaper packs they can provide to patients from the Village Diaper Bank.

“Being a new parent is so challenging in so many ways so even reducing a stressor in any one area, it’s going to allow them and their baby to thrive and bond,” Liss said. “It’s just a lot easier when you’re not worrying about something so simple as diapering.”

Liss also shouted out 20 South Park clinic manager Melinda Hohlbein, who partnered with Village Diaper Bank to help meet patients’ needs.
