Montemorano shares what’s next after Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship

After three years of intense fellowship training in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Lauren Montemorano, MD, is preparing to graduate. Montemorano shares what’s next after fellowship, the important lessons she will carry forward, and what she will miss about Madison.

Where will you be going and what will you be doing after UW Ob-Gyn?

I am headed to Reno, NV to work with a clinically busy small private practice. I will be part of an active clinical trials program and will be working with medical students. I will be helping to structure the Gynecologic Oncology rotation for a new OB/GYN residency and working with residents in the future too. I'm looking forward to being in the same city as my family and near all the outdoors opportunities, as well!

How do you feel UW Ob-Gyn prepared you for success after fellowship?

The Gynecologic Oncology division is full of unique individuals with varying strengths and I learned so much every day. I know I am ready as I can be for any clinical situation, and feel my education has been very well rounded. The people I've been lucky to work with during my fellowship have given me all the tools to grow and have instilled confidence as I move toward working independently. Aside from my clinical education, the connections I've made through my mentors will be invaluable for my career moving forward.

What will you miss most about UW Ob-Gyn and/or Madison?

I will certainly miss the attendings in the Gynecologic Oncology division, the APPs, my co-fellows, nurses and MAs in clinic and on the floor, the OR staff, and the residents, who all made coming to work every day so enjoyable and rewarding. I have loved Madison and will really miss the amazing biking, hiking, walkability, the lakes, and the community I've become a part of. Fortunately, I know I will be back to visit!
