Porragas-Paseiro to become Grand Rounds program director

Santi Porragas-Pasiero, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn, will be the next UW Department of Ob-Gyn Grand Rounds program director. He will take on this role beginning September 1, 2026, following the departure of Dr. Jon Pennycuff. Please help us thank Dr. Pennycuff for his service to the Grand Rounds program and congratulate Dr. Porragas on this exciting new role!

As the program director, Dr. Porragas will chair the planning committee for our department’s Grand Rounds offerings, which will include serving as a subject matter expert, selecting and inviting presenters, evaluating conflicts of interest, and more. Dr. Porragas will collaborate closely with the Ob-Gyn Grand Rounds planning committee, as well as continuing medical education leaders in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, to ensure our lectures are informative, high-quality, and compliant with CME guidelines.

Since arriving in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn in 2025, Dr. Porragas has demonstrated a strong interest in education and leadership through his service on the department’s Education and Social Impact and Belonging Committees. We are grateful he will focus his efforts on leading a Grand Rounds program that supports high-quality continuing medical education across the department!
