Sampene promoted to Clinical Professor

Please join us in congratulating Katherine Sampene, MD, of the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn! The UW School of Medicine and Public Health Clinician Teacher Track Faculty Appointments and Promotions Committee endorsed the Department of Ob-Gyn’s recommendation that Sampene be promoted to the rank of Clinical Professor, effective June 29, 2025. 

Sampene received her MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2010, before starting her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh. She joined the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn in 2015.

In 2023, Sampene became the Director of Obstetric Quality and Safety in the Department. In 2024, she stepped into the role of Vice Chair of Clinical Operations. She formerly served as chair of the department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
