Share your health equity research at the 2023 UW Women’s Health and Health Equity Research Lecture & Symposium on October 12
Do you have health equity or health disparities research you’d like to showcase? Submit a Brief & Brilliant talk proposal or poster to the UW Women’s Health and Health Equity Research Lecture & Symposium, coming up October 12, 2023!
CALL FOR BRIEF & BRILLIANT TALK PRESENTATIONS
The Brief & Brilliant (B&B) talks are TedX-style presentations aimed to translate women's health and health equity research in ways that engage a broad audience and emphasize the public relevance of this work.
The goal is to emphasize the main conclusions of the research rather than the methodological details behind it. Five scholars will be selected to each give a 3-minute lightning talk, highlighting an idea from their area of work that is particularly important, relevant, or intriguing. The B&B talks will be in person at the HSLC from 7:25-7:45am on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Late submissions will not be accepted.
Selection Process:
B&B talk proposals will be evaluated by the Symposium Planning Committee. Successful proposals will:
- Align with the event theme and objectives (read more about the event and objectives here)
- Deepen audience understanding of a particular research innovation
- Offer fresh insight and relevant information through the combination of words and visuals
- Effectively communicate messages to a variety of audience members
Preference will be given to proposals by trainees and emerging professionals. Presenters chosen for B&B talks will be notified by September 1, 2023.
Presenter Award:
B&B talks will be judged through audience polling at the Symposium and a $100 prize will be awarded to the presenter who had the most compelling talk.
CALL FOR POSTERS
We welcome research (from bench to community) that focuses on gender, racial, and other health disparities. We are seeking to showcase a wide variety of research and encourage early career professionals, trainees, and community partners to share their work. When submitting your poster, be prepared to describe how your research addresses a health disparity or improves health equity. Posters will be displayed in the HSLC Atrium from 7:00-11:00am on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Selection Process:
Posters will be evaluated by the Symposium Planning Committee. Posters chosen for the poster session will be notified by September 14, 2023.Poster Awards:
