Spencer discusses clinical trials during Uterine Cancer Awareness Month

Ryan Spencer, MD, MS, associate professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, joined CBS 58 for a recent story about one patient and her experience with a clinical trial at the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center.

In “’An extension on life:’ Madison survivor shares clinical trial experience during Uterine Cancer Awareness Month,” patient Judi Trampf described her journey with uterine cancer from first catching it, to side effects and UW Health Carbone Cancer Center’s treatment plan and recommendations for how to deal with it. Spencer remarked how resilient Trampf has been throughout the entire process, as well as recent trends for uterine diagnoses in general:

“Dr. Spencer said uterine cancer is also on the rise over the last decade, largely due to the aging population and obesity epidemic.

This year alone, medical experts are estimating between 70,000 to 80,000 new diagnoses here in the U.S.”
