Stanic-Kostic to become director of the Division of Reproductive Sciences and Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Research
Aleks Stanic-Kostic, MD, PhD, will become Director of the Division of Reproductive Sciences and Vice Chair of Basic and Translational Research, effective January 1, 2026. He will take on these roles when Manish Patankar, PhD, steps down from these two roles to become the Senior Director of SMPH Shared Resources. Dr. Patankar has served as Director of the Division of Reproductive Sciences since 2017 and Vice Chair of Basic and Translational Research since 2021. During this time, Department of Ob-Gyn research programs grew in both scope and caliber. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Patankar on his new position at SMPH and thanking him for his many years of service in these leadership roles.
Dr. Stanic will join the departmental research leadership team and work alongside Vice Chair of Clinical Research Kara Hoppe, DO, PhD, and Associate Director of Research Jaison Hampson, MBBS, MPH.
Dr. Stanic joined the UW Department of Ob-Gyn in 2014 as a member of the faculty in both the Divisions of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Reproductive Sciences. He has been the Department of Ob-Gyn's Director of Research in Reproductive Personalized Medicine since 2017. Throughout his time in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn, Dr. Stanic has built a career as a prolific physician scientist, receiving multiple grants from federal, industry, internal, and private foundations. He is a frequent research collaborator with investigators across the UW-Madison campus. Dr. Stanic is a sought-after mentor, with researchers, postdoctoral trainees, and graduate students in his lab earning grants and receiving awards for their work.
Dr. Stanic’s wealth of experience and expertise in both research and clinical care will be tremendous as he leads the Division of Reproductive Sciences and helps the department achieve our research goals as Vice Chair of Basic and Translational Research. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Stanic!
