Trainees in the Stanic Lab present at Upper Midwest Summit for Reproductive Science

Trainees in the Stanic Lab brought their research to the Upper Midwest Summit for Reproductive Science last month! The summit was held at Prentice Women's Hospital in Chicago October 13-14, 2025.

The summit brings together trainees, junior and senior faculty, and other research staff and scientists from institutions across the upper Midwest region to foster the exchange of knowledge in reproductive sciences and facilitate career development for trainees in the field.

Emily Grimes, a University of Wisconsin–Madison senior majoring in biochemistry and undergraduate researcher in the Stanic Lab, presented her work on how obesity and PCOS interact to create a unique inflammatory environment in the ovary. This was funded by her Hilldale award for studying the role of granulosa cells in the immune environment in PCOS. Andrea Wegrzynowicz, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the Stanic Lab, mentored Grimes’s project.

Wegrzynowicz also presented a poster during the event featuring work on the role of the immune system in PCOS.

Congratulations, Emily and Dr. Wegryznowicz!
