Vazquez, de Faria Oliveira awarded NIH Loan Repayment Program grants
Jessica Vazquez, PhD, scientist in the Division of Reproductive Sciences, and Gabriela de Faria Oliveira PhD, postdoctoral trainee in the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center, successfully competed for NIH-funded loan repayment program (LRP) awards this summer. These awards put up to $50,000 annually toward qualified educational debt, in exchange for their continued NIH-relevant research. Both awards were made through the Research in Emerging Areas Critical to Human Health (REACH) LRP mechanism through the Eunice Kennedy Schriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
Dr. Vazquez' grant is titled "Sterile Inflammation at the Maternal-Fetal Interface and Fetal Immune Programming in a Non-Human Primate Model." Dr. de Faria Oliviera's grant is titled "The Impact of GNRH Agonist Treatment on Adolescent Development in a Marmoset Model."
Dr. Vazquez is a former trainee and Dr. de Faria Oliveira is a current trainee of the Interdisciplinary Program in Endocrinology (iPEnd) NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral training program, which is led by Ian Bird, PhD, professor in the Division of Reproductive Sciences, and co-led by Neuroscience and Wisconsin National Primate Research Center faculty member Jon Levine, PhD. The iPEnd program receives administrative support through the Department of Ob-Gyn.
Congratulations, Dr. Vazquez and Dr. de Faria Oliveira!
