Virumbrales-Muñoz builds research profile at national conferences

María Virumbrales-Muñoz, PhD, assistant professor in the Division of Reproductive Sciences, brought research and built connections at several national research conferences in the summer and fall of 2024!
In early August 2024, the National Science Foundation sponsored the first-ever ElevateHER (Engineering Innovations for Women’s Health Discovery) Conference at Texas A&M University. The event, which was created in response to a White House initiative to improve women’s health funding and research, brought together biomedical engineers and scientists to identify opportunities and challenges in women’s health engineering. Virumbrales-Muñoz was one of a small group invited to attend the inaugural event.
Virumbrales-Muñoz was also invited to attend the 2024 Perinatal Research Society NIH-Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition Young Investigator Workshop in Providence, RI, in September 2024.
She also attended the Biomedical Engineering Society 2024 Annual Meeting in Maryland in October. While at the meeting, Virumbrales-Muñoz served as Session Chair for the Pregnancy and Fertility session. She also co-authored the presentation 3D microphysiological model to evaluate the effects of atovaquone as a therapeutic agent for high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC).
Incredible work, Dr. Virumbrales-Muñoz!
