Wagar talks about immunotherapy and endometrial cancer with OncLive

Matthew Wagar, MD, a gynecologic oncology fellow in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn’s Division of Gynecologic Oncology, spoke with OncLive for a recent story about treatment for endometrial cancer.

In “Immunotherapy Continues to Redefine Treatment Considerations in Advanced/Recurrent Endometrial Cancer,” Wagar talked about how recent advancements in treatment options like immunotherapy can greatly help chemotherapy for metastatic or recurrent endometrial cancer.

“The integration of immunotherapy into the adjuvant treatment realm drives home the importance of staging and having access to someone capable of performing these staging procedures for these patients … if [clinicians decide] to go one step further and do a full lymphadenectomy, including pelvic lymph node dissection, can be helpful to help risk stratify some of these patients. We are seeing a dramatic effect with the integration of immunotherapy, particularly when these patients are adequately staged.”
