Wallace discusses ovarian cancer prevention with Wisconsin Public Radio
On August 11, 2026, Sumer Wallace, MD, MS, associate professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, joined the Lee Rayburn Show on Wisconsin Public Radio for a recent story about ovarian cancer prevention and how removing the fallopian tubes may reduce ovarian cancer risk.
In “Reducing ovarian cancer,” Wallace discussed how most ovarian cancers originate in the fallopian tubes and the benefits of opportunistic salpingectomy; genetic risk factors; and the challenges of screening for ovarian cancer:
“Ovarian cancer is difficult to diagnose, difficult to treat, difficult to cure, and we just need the attention.”
