Zheng earns Editor’s Choice distinction in Journal of Physiology

Congratulations to Jing Zheng, PhD, professor in the Division of Reproductive Sciences, whose recent article was selected as the Editor’s Choice in the August issue of The Journal of Physiology! Zheng is senior author on the article; Chi Zhou, PhD, former postdoctoral trainee in the Department of Ob-Gyn and current assistant professor at the University of Arizona, is the first author.

In “MicroRNA-29 differentially mediates preeclampsia-dysregulated cellular responses to cytokines in female and male fetal endothelial cells”, Zheng, Zhou and co-authors reveal fetal sex-specific dysregulation of target genes of two microRNAs in fetal endothelial cells from preeclampsia. This differential dysregulation may contribute to fetal sex-specific endothelial dysfunction in offspring born to preeclamptic mothers.
