Beninati to become interim director of UW Health Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center

Later this year, Michael Beninati, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, will take on a new leadership role when he becomes the interim director of the UW Health Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center. He will become interim director on September 30 when Dr. Inna Lobeck, assistant professor in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Surgery, departs for a new position in Kansas.

Beninati is well-suited for this position: he has been the co-director of the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center since it launched in 2022. In addition to Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship, Beninati completed a Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Wisconsin and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has been an indispensable part of the center’s operations thus far and is the natural choice to lead it through this transition.

The UnityPoint Health–Meriter Center for Perinatal Care and UW Health Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center will continue to provide outstanding care to people with high-risk pregnancies, including fetal cardiac care, multiple gestation, growth restrictions, other fetal genetic conditions and fetal anomalies. Procedures will continue to take place at UnityPoint Health – Meriter and American Family Children’s Hospital.

We are grateful Dr. Beninati will ensure the continued success of this vital service line!
