Green, Sobecki celebrated at SMPH Faculty Investiture Ceremony

The UW School of Medicine and Public Health hosted the 2025 SMPH Faculty Investiture Celebration on June 18. Two faculty in the Department of Ob-Gyn with recent appointments to endowed professorships and fellowships were celebrated during the ceremony.

Tiffany Green, PhD, associate professor in the Division of Reproductive and Population Health, became the Gloria E. Sarto MD, PHD, Chair in Women’s Health and Health Equity Research on July 1, 2024. This endowed chair supports research, education, and programs that further reproductive health equity research. Green is a nationally recognized economist, population health scientist, and science communicator who is passionate about studying, reducing, and eliminating racial and ethics disparities that exist in reproductive health.  

Janelle Sobecki, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, was honored as the inaugural Ginny Wolfe Faculty Fellow in Ovarian Cancer Research, a faculty fellowship initiated by Virginia Wolfe to support ovarian cancer research at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Sobecki has distinguished herself in a career devoted to women’s cancer research and care, focusing on treatment advances and survivorship issues for gynecologic cancer patients.
